Average to Savage Overhead Press Seminar

This seminar will be hosted by Owner and Coach Zac Miller on October 4th from 10am to 2pm. As a Strongman athlete without the hulking upper-body muscle mass many strength athlete’s have, Zac has become a top-level overhead presser. Taking his overhead press lifts from the 200-240 pound range, up to the 320-380 pound range using optimal technique and Olympic-style weightlifting for generating power overhead. With 9 years of experience as a Strongman athlete and 10 years as a Strength Coach (Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Performance, CSCS) this seminar offers elite expertise for taking your strength to the next level!

While this seminar caters to Strongman athlete’s, anyone looking to take their overhead press to the next level while building healthy shoulders is certain to benefit from this 3 hour workshop! For many Strongman athlete’s, finding your strength in overhead events can feel like an impossible task. But implementing the techniques and training methods you’ll learn from this seminar are sure to set you on the right path. While you won’t become an elite athlete in just a few hours, you will develop the technique and learn the training strategies to start on the right path to take your Overhead Press from AVERAGE to SAVAGE!

Here is what you can expect from this THREE HOUR seminar:

45-60min Lecture (don’t worry, you won’t be bored to death) covering:

  • A brief breakdown on muscle physiology (how our muscles work for us) and shoulder anatomy
  • Technical Breakdown of: Barbell Strict Press, Push Press, Power Jerk, Split Jerk (plus behind-the-neck variations), Log Clean + Press, Axle Clean + Press, Circus DB Clean + Press
  • Exercise selection guide based on strengths/weaknesses by exercise
  • Programming in the short term and in the long term for efficient progress
  • Troubleshooting what to address first, and the path forward

1:1 Technique work on an exercise of your choosing

  • A brief demo of each lift by Coach Zac
  • Each attendee will be coached 1:1 for roughly 10 minutes on technique for the overhead exercise of your choosing
  • Other attendees will have the opportunity to observe and learn from the critique of each attendee
