Dec. 13
Lift Differently
Competition & Training Mastery for Neurodivergent Strength Athletes
December 13th – 10am to Noon
If you’re a lifter or coach who feels like the usual strategies just don’t fit your brain, this is the seminar you’ve been waiting for.
This workshop is built for neurodivergent strength athletes — those with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or sensory processing differences — and for the coaches who train them. Whether you’re a powerlifter, strongman competitor, or hybrid athlete trying to reach the platform with more clarity and confidence, this 3-hour seminar will show you how to thrive by lifting, regulating, and performing on your own terms.
This workshop will be led by Justin Betsy, a neurodivergent athlete and coach who has spent his coaching career building systems that help lifters train and perform in alignment with how their brain actually works. This isn’t a lecture on “trying harder” or “being more consistent” — it’s a toolkit for thriving in the chaos of your own nervous system, and using it to your advantage in training and competition.
Who This Is For:
-
Competitive or aspiring powerlifters and strongman athletes who feel like typical training environments or strategies don’t fit
-
Coaches who want to better support neurodivergent athletes in regulation, training retention, and meet day performance
-
Lifters who are tired of feeling like they need to “fix” themselves just to train hard and show up on meet day
What You’ll Learn:
45–60 Minute Lecture:
(Yes, you’ll be engaged — and yes, it’s ND-friendly.)
-
How the neurodivergent brain handles training stress, attention, and regulation
-
A breakdown of nervous system management that’s usable in training and on meet day
-
Common executive function traps that sabotage consistency (and how to overcome them)
-
Tools for sensory regulation, competition prep, and shifting into performance mode
-
Programming strategies for ADHD/autistic athletes (short-term cycles and long-term planning)
-
Key red flags in athlete burnout, disregulation, and recovery needs
Interactive Coaching Lab (Hands-On Experience)
This isn’t just theory — you’ll actively practice how to apply everything you’ve learned in live, dynamic coaching and lifting situations.
Role Play + Real-Time Problem Solving
-
You’ll take turns playing the roles of athlete, coach, and observer to walk through common regulation breakdowns and coaching moments that occur in training and competition.
-
Learn to coach or self-correct through mental spirals, distraction, shutdowns, sensory overwhelm, or hyperfocus traps — all in a safe, exploratory format.
-
Practice in-the-moment cueing, pacing, grounding, and sensory regulation tools.
Mock Competition Experience
-
We’ll simulate a mini competition setting — complete with time constraints, pressure, and performance expectations — tailored to how neurodivergent brains actually react under load.
-
You’ll work through warm-up flow, attempt selection strategy, and mental reset techniques between “lifts.”
-
Expect both physical and psychological coaching through this mock meet — whether you’re lifting or observing.
What You’ll Leave With:
-
A PDF overview of the lecture + frameworks
-
A roadmap-style guide to train and compete as a neurodivergent athlete
-
Techniques for coaches to adapt to neurodivergent athlete needs
-
Hands-on learning, feedback, and tools you can use immediately
If you’re ready to stop fighting your brain in training — and start using it as a competitive advantage — this seminar will give you the edge you’ve been missing.
